1.2 Project Experiences Zensar has successfully delivered projects based on IBM Technologies to clients across the globe. Following are some of the project experiences of a Telecom Giant, a US based Multinational Telecommunications company providing long distance, local and wireless services. Zensar's relationship with this client started in 1996. 1.2.1 Direct Deposit Project -- Web enabling the Bank Account Details The Project For the Direct Deposit Project, Zensar provided quality software services in a very cost effective manner. The Need The older system was a mainframe CSP based screen accessed by payroll personnel only. Employees who need to make changes to existing account details or those who want to enroll fill out a form the contents of which is then e-mailed to the payroll department for update to the direct deposit database. The Solution The new Direct Deposit web based system allows employees to directly access and update their account details online over the intranet. This system also helps those employees who are currently not under direct deposit to enroll for direct deposit. The project was divided into 3 major activities as follows: · Designing of User Interface (UI) using HTML and writing the related code in Java using Servlet based architecture · Converting CSP programs to DB2 Stored Procedures to fetch required data from the database on Query · Use of middleware to enable the Servlets to talk to the DB2 database through a JDBC driver. · The Approach: · N-tier Web architecture · Java Servlets · Weblogic as Application server · Local Director as load balancing software · JDBC as middleware Key Success Factors · Offshore Model. · Defining & documenting organisational processes. · Customising Organisational Processes to suit Project requirements. · Development of Project tracking tools. · Experienced team leaders and team members. · Ability to ramp up the team at a short notice. · Continuous risk assessment/escalation and mitigation measures. · Collection and analysis of metrics data for process improvement.
